Airport Executive Park, SunLife Building
- Client
- Sun Life at Airport Executive Park
Environmental sustainability was a major goal in the design and construction of the SunLife Building (Building 6) at the Airport Executive Park. The project is anticipating a LEED® Gold certification and will be among the first office buildings in Richmond to achieve this rating.
The site and landscape design of the project evolved out of the desire to retain two very high value redwood trees in the middle of the parking lot. A crescent shaped green area in the middle of the parking lot saves the trees, helps with stormwater management and provides a quality break out space for building occupants.
Building energy performance is about 25% more efficient than baseline building per ASHRAE standard. All exhaust air will pass through an Enthalpy Heat Wheel to recover about 60% of the energy from the exhaust air. Low-E glass is used on the building envelop. Energy efficient lighting is used throughout the project.
