The Maxem Holdings building is a corner property located at a waterfront park. The facility houses three sunglass companies in a comfortable, friendly environment that incorporates a number of principles of sustainable and community design.

Green design and sustainability are fundamental to the character of this facility. A pond feature and landscaped space at the building entry provides a pleasant court area, which serves as an amenity, and at the same time, cools and shades the exposed south and west faces of the building. Sunshades further protect the south face and articulate the building facade.

This building is constructed of salvaged materials, wherever possible, including a recycled heavy timber structure. All systems are designed for occupant and user health and energy efficiency. Ventilation is passive natural, and consequently, no air conditioning is necessary. In addition, a roof top terrace features the building’s ‘green roof’ system.
